linux无法检测到串口

想用minicom登录2440，minicom始终offline，
用dmesg | grep tty，output: Xen virtual console successfully installed as ttyS0
想设置串口（非在minicom下）  setserial -g /dev/ttyS0，output：Cannot get serial info: Invalid argument
我想可能是linux无法检测到串口的原因，系统是CentOS5.3 ,各位遇到过此类问题吗，麻烦出手相助，开源社区万岁！

除了你自己之外，没有人可以预料mini2440的串口在你的Linux上是什么设备

我尝试了# dmidecode 的命令
发现硬件中有串口的信息，如下：
Handle 0x0007, DMI type 8, 9 bytes.
Port Connector Information
        Internal Reference Designator: SERIAL
        Internal Connector Type: 9 Pin Dual Inline (pin 10 cut)
        External Reference Designator: COM 1
        External Connector Type: DB-9 male
        Port Type: Serial Port 16550A Compatible
既然已经识别到了串口，那么为何还是offline，不能登录呢？设置与在超级终端下一致，
应该没有问题，不明白。先在此处谢谢了
另，看到帖子说用ckermit可以替代minicom ，有心得的希望分享一下经验，共同支持我们的开源社区
